What is therapy?

Counselling / psychotherapy can be described as a process which uses the relationship between a client and therapist to help with an individual's psychological problems or distress. It aims to increase a sense of well-being in the client.

A professional relationship between the client and therapist offers a safe, empathic and confidential space where problems can be explored on a deeper level. Here the person can share things without having to worry about being judged or offending someone.

The therapeutic process aims not only to produce positive changes in the client's life but also to attain self-acceptance. It does not promise to resolve all problems, but helps to increase self- knowledge and an understanding of who we are.
